I have the opportunity to talk to the event centers that my wedding dance clients rent for their receptions. Recently Brooke and I worked on the Goodman/Ayres wedding. We both really enjoyed working with Malachi and Leslie. After their wedding I asked Brooke to let me in on her hottest wedding tips, as an event center coordinator.
5 planning tips
Tip 1- Make a list of your wedding must haves, the things that are really important to you (dress, dance lessons, officiant, flowers, food and drinks, DJ), and your like to have’s (colored linens, special lighting, live music,)
Tip 2- Outline your budget; allocate what you need for what you want.
Tip 3- Make your guest list; keep the guest list within the budget of what you must have. An intimate wedding can accommodate more of your must haves and wants.
Tip 4- Pick a worry free location; event centers do the set up and tear down for your reception so you do not need to worry about it.
Tip 5- Ask about deposits and payment schedules; when shopping for a venue be prepared to put down a deposit to hold your space for your wedding date. Reception halls fill quickly, and the first couple to pay the deposit gets the date and space. Be ready to be that first couple.
3 unique wedding Ideas
1-Building a forest within the event hall with trees around the walls and on the tables.
2– For an outdoor wedding have custom umbrellas available and giant umbrellas at every table in case of rain.
3– Circus themed with wandering circus acts, concession stands and carnival games.
