September 2015 USA Dance Competition Results
On Saturday September 19th, as the sun cleared my window, I rolled out of bed to get ready for the 2015 USA Dance Competition. I helped my daughter with her hair and markup, and loaded her partner’s costumes into my car. At o dawn o thirty we rolled out of my house and off to compete.
Robyn and William had been training with new routines for the last 6 months, and were looking forward to sharing all they had learned. We arrived by 8:15 am and by 8:30 were ready to warm up for the international Latin competition. Robyn and William had new routines in their Rumba, Samba, and their Paso Doble. They danced all 5 Latin dances in the single dances, then just 4, (Samba, Cha-Cha, Rumba, jive) for their multi dance competition, and for their Scholarship. They took first place in all 13 dances.
After a quick costume change, they were ready for the International Ballroom dances. They danced the Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and the Quickstep in their single dances. They then danced the multi dance with only 4 dances, dropping the Viennese Waltz. Robyn and William placed 1st in all 9 dances.
Robyn took off her ballroom floats and William switched vests for the American Smooth dances. They danced the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, and Viennese Waltz for their single dances, multi dance, and scholarship. They took 1st in all 12 dances.
This event was a dance marathon for Robyn and William. They danced a total of 34 dances between 9 am and 2pm.
We celebrated over a well-deserved lunch. All in all we had a great time dancing with the other amateur dancers in Colorado. We look forward to doing in again in the spring.
