Haunted Halloween Ballroom Dance Party
This year’s Halloween party was a night for ghosts, cheerleaders, boogiers and all around party animals. It took place at the Adventures in Dance studio on Oct. 30 from 8-9:30 p.m. The Halloween-themed music kept the couples ballroom dancing in their costumes all night long.
Throughout the night Holly taught everyone how to dance some Halloween line dances. First one up was the song “When you’re an Addams.” This Addams Family line dance involves some lurch moves, a few shimmies and a little bit of conga line.
Next, the party learned how to dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” If you have seen the music video, you would recognize some of the swimming action, claw waving and head twitching. Last, we learned the classic Monster Mash where everyone showed off their twist moves.
Teachers Bill and Robyn also made a haunted waltz video in their costumes.
There was a costume contest for all present close to the end of the night. The crowd voted for three categories: best woman’s costume, best man’s costume and best staff costume. The winner of the women’s costume was Sheryl Gray dressed as a Spartan cheerleader. The men’s competition was a tough one resulting in a three-way tie for first place. John Gerlick won as Darth Maul, Rick Hartford won as an old school gangster and Kevin Rudolph won as a waiter for a fancy restaurant. As for the staff costume, Bill won as nothing less than the classic costume of the ghost.
The night was enjoyed by all ghosts, gangsters, sheriffs and goths bringing in the eve before Halloween.
