For the past twenty years the Colorado star ball has rocked ballroom dance on the third weekend in June. To commemorate 20 years of dance, Richard and Jennifer Booth awarded jackets to the teachers who had supported their event for 7 years or longer. Holly Collins was one of two teachers to receive the award for attending all 20 years.
Melvin Marcusson swept up in his division. He took all firsts in his gold Latin events (Cha-cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble & Jive) on Thursday, his club dances (West Coast Swing, Hustle, Argentine Tango, Salsa & Night Club 2 step) on Friday, and his standard ballroom dances ( Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, and Quickstep) on Sunday. Mel’s favorite part was when the event was ahead of schedule on both Friday and Sunday and they played music for social dancing to get back on schedule. He had a great time.
William Hooker got to dance with two partners. During the day he danced his standard ballroom dances with his teacher Holly Collins in the Silver Standard Ballroom Championship. He took 3rd in his Waltz and Tango, and tied for Second in his Foxtrot and Quickstep. Well done William.
Robyn and William danced 3 styles Sunday night, and took first place in everything they danced. First they danced the international Latin Cha-cha, Rumba, Samba and Jive. Then they danced the Smooth Ballroom Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz. And finally, they danced the Standard ballroom Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Quickstep. They looked great together!
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported all our talented dancers. Do come join us next year as we do this again.
