Dancing at The Festival of faerie 2016
For the past 5 years Layfette has hosted the Festival of Faerie. With a new Mythical creature of the Faerie realm crowned every year, this year honored the mer-folk by crowning the Mermaid as their queen. For the faerie parade she was wheeled to court on a wagon with her royal guard surrounding her and the past royal courts pre-ceding her. At court proclamations were made, and the new queen was crowned. To celebrate the crowning of the faerie, Adventures in dance taught the Maltese Bransle. Then everyone danced before her throne.
At the end of the opening ceremonies the queen rolled up to her court at the top of the street. Dancers from Adventures in dance continued to entertain faeries with medieval dances on the grass. They then processed up to Queens’s court to demonstrate the mermaid dance to under the sea for the Mer-queen. Dancers then made their way to midlands stage and did one last show as the heat of the day was peaking. As always this was an enchanting event. We are so thankful for the Adventures in Dance Faeries. They were Billy Hooker, Robyn Collins, Rachel Williams, Roger Cunningham, John Boudreau, Juli Cie, Craig Tomazin, Sabrina McFarland, and Holly Collins. Look for this event again next year.
