Dancing Princesses at the 2016 Colorado Medieval Festival

Dancing Princesses at the 2016 Colorado Medieval Festival Cartoon Princess Colorado medieval dance

Do you love festivals? I do, and I had the pleasure of attending the Colorado Medieval Festival in 2015, and attending as a vendor this year. This is the up and coming best Colorado summer festival. It doubled in size this year.

The Colorado Medieval festival is set in the picturesque town of Loveland in the Savage woods. This lovely plot of land comes to life with many medieval activities. Vendors abounded with wonderful wares and free shade from the beautiful sunny Colorado day. The food and beverage vendors were fabulous.

Fairgoers had various Activates to participate in. There were swordfight lessons, archery, Mazes, and highlands games to try. It was all fun to try. The SCA had melees’ and battles that could explode around you at any time.

The entertainment was excellent. I saw belly dancing, jugglers, dragons, magicians, madrigal singers, Morris dancers, fairy glitter bombers, and, of course, historically accurate dancing princesses.

Adventures in dance brought out historically accurate princess dances from the middle ages. Dancers dressed as medieval cartoon princesses demonstrated the Saltarello for King Arthur, Strip the Willow for Brave, Toss the Duchess for Robin Hood, and Greensleves for Sleeping Beauty. Then the audience was included in a participatory Medieval Maltese circle dance. Everyone had a great time, and even the fairies came out to join the fun.

This fair was a lot of fun, and worth going to again. Mark your calendar to join us all next year.
