Pikes Peak Dancesport Competition 2017

Pikes Peak Dancesport Competition 2017Ballroom and Latin comptition dancers

Don’t you love being inspired to do your best? I love encouraging my ballroom and Latin dance students to get out and dance. From dancing at showcases with choreographed routines, to competing with other ballroom and Latin dance students, picking goals helps students improve faster.

On Saturday January 21 students from Adventures in Dance traveled from Littleton Colorado to Colorado Springs to compete at the Pikes Peak Dancesport Competition. For several of the students, this was their first competition. Everyone did a great job of overcoming their nerves and getting out to dance.

Newcomer Julianna Cox danced with William Hooker, taking 7 firsts and one second. She danced the American style Foxtrot, Waltz, and American rhythm Cha-Cha, and Swing. Julianna looked stunning in her navy blue Ballgown to Latin dress.

Larry and Shery Gray are not new to dancing, but competition dancing is new to them. They took all first places in their American smooth dances. They danced bronze level Viennese Waltz and Tango. Then they took their level up to silver Waltz and Foxtrot. We are so proud of how they danced.

Chris and Emily Lundberg are new to dance and competing. They started dance last year for their wedding, and came back to it as their new hobby. These newcomers placed well in all their Rhythm dances. They danced Rumba, Cha-cha, Mambo, and the romantic Bolero. They did a great job dancing at their first competition.

Our last representatives were the seasoned competitors, Robyn Collins and William Hooker. They were thrilled to be contested in all their dances this year. The took second in all their multi dance and scholarships. They danced the American smooth Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, & Viennese Waltz. Then they did a new division that they had not danced in previously. The American Rhythm Cha-cha, Rumba, Swing, & Mambo. Many people commented on how much they have improved.

Last of all, we are thankful for the Adventures in Dance staff that were there to support our dancers. Holly Collins-Tomazin volunteered to judge for the day. Craig Tomazin took video and photos of all our beautiful dancers, and answered questions. Thank you for all your hard work and commitment.
