Lights, Rhinestones, Action! The Colorado Star ball has it all. Four days of Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm and country dance competition and classes. The Colorado Star Ball is held annually at the Weston Westminster. It is a favorite for the students from Adventures in Dance to set a goal to improve their dancing.
This year was grand. On Friday, 89-year-old Melvin Marcusson swept back onto the dancefloor. He danced his favorite American smooth dances, the Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Peabody. Mel remembered every routine and did a great job placing first in every dance.
Saturday afternoon Robyn, William, and Julianna took advantage of the dance clinic. They attended the American rhythm rumba class. They had a great time learning about rumba walks.
As the sun set, professionals gathered to duke it out on the dancefloor. Craig Tomazin and Holly Collins from Adventures in dance competed in the Rising Star Standard Ballroom division. As finalists, they were proud to take 2nd place in Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep.
Sunday was for William Hooker and Robyn Collins. In the afternoon, they danced the pro/am open silver multi-dance championship. Robyn danced with Craig, and William with Holly. It was a close round and they placed first in Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Quickstep.
Sunday evening was the amateur syllabus category. Robyn and William paired up to burn the floor. They Danced their Silver International Latin Cha-cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive. Then with a quick costume change they danced the American smooth Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, and Viennese Waltz.
