Dancing & more for Glow at the GardensDay of the Dead denver botanic

Don’t you think dancing and holidays go hand in hand? I do, and so does the Denver Botanical Gardens. They invited me to teach line dance for their Glow at the Gardens Halloween event.

Glow at the Denver Botanical Gardens:

Glow at the Gardens is Denver Botanical Gardens annual Halloween event. Guests are invited to explore the gardens from 5:30- 7pm, and from 7-9:30pm. Pumpkins and Day of the Dead statues adorned the gardens.

Upon entering the gardens attendants provided maps of where to find the pumpkin sculptures and day of the dead statues. It was a treasure hunt in the gardens. In the green house was face painting and live pumpkin carvings. You could even bid on a carved pumpkin to take home with you.

Guests were enthralled with variety of top notch entertainers. Entertainers included dancers, circus acts, live music and DJ’s throughout the gardens. There was something for everyone.

The entertainers were all outstanding. Mesmerie Entertainment LLC provided circus acts like jugglers, hula hoopers, and stilt walkers. Jack Rice classical guitarist strummed softly by the outside concessions. Rachael Ann Harding could be found in the south atrium plaza telling Halloween stories. DJ Chris from Elite Entertainment was spinning tunes in Mitchell hall with Adventures in Dance.

Thriller Dance at Glow:

William Hooker and Holly Collins rocked the Halloween line dances. Holly taught the classic Monster Mash as a warm up for the headline line dance, “Thriller.” Inspired by the event, Holly Collins made up a special line dance to “I Put A Spell On You” from Hocus Pocus. Party goers really got into the mood with the classic Electric Slide danced to “Ghostbusters.” Everybody had a great time dancing.

Costume contests were held after the dance lessons. The children’s costume contest was first. Second was the adult costumes. Last were the group costumes. The Victorian Society of Colorado had a fabulous group of 7 in their period finest to compete on the last night.

Glow at the Gardens was an outstanding Halloween event. Glow sold out this year, and I can see why. Do mark your calendar to get tickets early next year, and get ready for your Halloween glow.
