Trocadero Dance HET talk on KUHS
Be careful what you wish for, it may come true. As a result of working on the historically accurate princess dances (link), I found myself giving a HET (History Elitch Theatre) talk. I did a live podcast on KUHS on Thursday March 21st at 11:30 am.
Poppins to Elitch
So how did I get from dancing princesses to history of Elitch Gardens? I had contacted Michael Bliss for permission to film the Maxie (link) with Mary Poppins in the old Elitch carousel shell. Shortly after I done my filming, the roof blew off the Elitch theatre in a storm. Michael then contacted me to come give a HET talk on the history of dance at the Trocadero ballroom as Mary Elitch. We later filmed the same talk, and I have posted it as dancing at the Trocadero part 1(link) and part 2(link).
Michael has been putting on HET talks to help keep the history of Elitch Gardens top of mind. I was invited last Thursday to talk with radio expert Henry Archuleta on KUHS. I had dressed for a radio interview and was surprised that it was a live streaming interview.
Michael and Henry were a delight to work with. We got talking about dance history and had a great time on the air. Before I knew it, the show was wrapping up. It was a great experience, and I look forward to doing it again sometime. You can see the whole show here.
