Competition Ballroom Dance at the Denver Dancesport Jam

Superbowl weekend is a super start for competition ballroom dance. The Denver Dancesport Jam is the hottest ballroom dance event to start the year in Colorado. Dancers from Adventures in dance were prepared to do their best in competiton ballroom dance.

Rhythm & Club dances with Melvin

The day started off with American Rhythm dance. Seasoned veteran Melvin Marcusson rocked his single dance entries. He danced his Cha-cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Samba, Night club 2 step, Salsa, and Merengue. He took all first places for his dancing. Not bad for someone over 90 yrs. old.

Swing Solos with Craig

Craig was proud to bring two newcomer solos to the dancesport jam. The first was Rhiannon Tran. She rocked her newcomer bronze swing routine. Next was Rachel Prezkuta. Rachel was a seasoned dancer having dances showcases before. She shook things up with her swing shimmies. Both girls did an awesome job with their dancing getting scores over 90 from all the judges.

Smooth Ballroom with Jessica

Later in the afternoon things began to pick up when Jessica Virgo hit the floor with style.  She rocked her open American smooth single dances. She then repeated her stellar performance in the evening with a 1st place in the smooth open multi dance. For the open smooth scholarship, she was excited to take 3rd. It was an exciting performance.

Standard, Smooth & Latin with William

William hooker danced 3 styles of multi dance in the evening. First up was his open international standard dances, the Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep. Next, he danced his open American smooth dances, the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz. With a quick costume change William was ready to rock his international Latin dances, the Cha-cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive. It was a great run with many new accomplishments.

Competition Ballroom Dance Comes to An End

At the end of the evening the Adventures in dance team presented the history of Samba. It was a fun demonstration of where the Samba came from. Jessica as Carmen Miranda was an absolute hit. When the last dance was done everyone was ready to go home. If you missed this year be sure to mark your calendar and join us next year.
