Snow ball Sunday a Success
On Sunday December 13th, the feast of St. Lucinda, dancers lit the way to the dance floor to trip the light fantastic. Pouring in at 4 pm dancers warmed up for our pro-am team match. Appetizers of pumpkin cookies, guacamole, chips, and spiced cider were ready and waiting.
We had two teams this year, team Craig and team Holly. Dancing on team Craig were Jessica Virgo, Rebecca Heckman, and Shayao McFarland. On team Holly were Melvin Marcusson, and Sabrina McFarland. The heats were mostly American Smooth Dances, Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz. There were two rhythm dances, the Samba and the Swing. After much deliberation from the judges Robyn Collins and William Hooker, they revealed their scores. Team Holly put in a valiant effort, but team Craig won for most dances and best bribes.
Everyone partnered up on the floor for more dancing to holiday favorites. Then before dinner Holly taught everyone toss the Duchess to
ding dong merrily on high. Then dinner was served.
Relish catering took the floor and served an outstanding holiday feast. Baby Spinach Salad With Red Apples, Stilton, Candied Hazelnuts, Tossed in a Pomegranate Vinaigrette (V, GF, DF)~ Braised Beef Brisket With Red Wine & Mushroom Gravy (GF Available) ~ Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes (V) ~ Cider Glazed Winter Vegetables (V, GF, DF) ~ Assorted Breads and Butter ~ Chocolate Peppermint Pot de Crème With Whipped Cream and Crushed Peppermint (V, GF). It was fabulous.
During dessert, the Adventures In Dance staff put on a show. Robyn and William demonstrated their award winning Samba. Then Holly and William shared the Charleston, Quickstep, Lindy hop medley routine that they had put together for the show on Thursday. The show concluded with Robyn and William’s Jive routine.
After dessert, Holly got everyone up to do a “Holly Jolly Christmas” line dance. From there dancers filled the floor and had a great time. Everyone danced with happy feet.
